Lost Judgment has been rated by the Australian Classifications Board. Some of the mature themes of the game were addressed in the rating description.
Australian Classifications has rated Lost Judgments and given it a Restricted 18+ Rating for references to Sexual Violence. This is not the first game by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio with a Restricted rating. While most of the previous Yakuza games have received a Mature rating, Yakuza Kiwami 2, 5, 6, and Like a Dragon had a Restricted rating.
According to Australian Classifications, they give a Restricted 18+ rating if the product meets the following criteria. In the case of Lost Judgment, the restricted rating is rewarded for High Impact Violence, Strong Impact Theme. Moderate Impact Language and Sex, and Mild Impact Nudity.
R 18+ material is restricted to adults as it contains content that is considered high in impact for viewers. This includes content that may be offensive to sections of the adult community. A person may be asked for proof of their age before purchasing, hiring or viewing R 18+ films and computer games at a retail store or cinema.
The original Judgment had a Mature rating so this a step up for the series. The game’s producer Hosokawa Kazuki had mentioned that it tackles some sensitive topics which could lead to the players voicing their opinions about it.
Lost Judgment was recently revealed for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. The original Judgment was also released last month for the PS5 and Xbox Series in addition to Google Stadia. It has been remastered with improved visuals and all of the post-launch DLC content.
Lost Judgment will be out on September 24, 2021, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
