Remedy Entertainment has revealed that Max Payne 1 & 2 remake has achieved critical development goals, while Control 2 is now in full production.
In its business review for the period of January to March, 2025, Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala shared that the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake project has made great progress and remains in full production. In Q1, 2025, the development the team has advanced steadily toward major development stages in several critical areas, working alongside the game’s publisher, Rockstar Games.

Furthermore, Virtala mentioned that Control 2 moved to full production in February, 2025, and is tracking well towards its next milestones. The development team is currently working on expanding the content from Vertical and Horizontal Slices to the whole game.
As for FBC: Firebreak, the Remedy Entertainment CEO said that it is also in full production. The development team has been primarily focused on balancing the metagame. Additionally, quality assurance support for the game is being ramped up as the day one experience is being polished. Marketing and publishing for FBC: Firebreak is being driven by Remedy’s internal publishing team. With the publishing rights to Control fully returned to Remedy, the company’s publishing team has expanded to include team members focused on supporting its existing portfolio. Their work includes releasing limited updates for older titles and adapting them for new platforms, such as the Control Ultimate Edition for Mac, developed in collaboration with Apple.
Virtala noted that the importance of long-tail sales for digital games has continued to increase. In that regard, Remedy Entertainment has a dedicated team to ensure its games’ longevity in the digital storefronts and continue to also actively support and promote Alan Wake 2 with its partner Epic Games.
Previously, in its extensive analyst report published in December, 2024, Remedy Entertainment revealed its future strategy in light of its upcoming lineup of titles. As per the report, the company is targeting the year 2027 for the release of Control 2, while Alan Wake 3 & Control 3 will launch in 2029 and 2030, respectively.
