Media Molecule has announced that the official Tearaway companion website, Tearaway.me, will be removed on August 13, 2026. The closure will affect several online-connected features in both Tearaway on PS Vita and Tearaway Unfolded on PlayStation 4.
While the site itself is being retired, the studio confirmed that papercraft templates previously hosted on Tearaway.me are now available directly through the Media Molecule website. Players will still be able to access, download, print, and assemble the papercraft creations associated with the games after the shutdown.
According to the developer, both games will continue to contain references to Tearaway.me even after the service goes offline. Attempts to use online-connected functions tied to the website will instead result in error messages or failed load attempts.
On the PS Vita version of Tearaway, players may encounter errors when attempting to upload photos, unlock papercrafts through online synchronization, or modify public profile settings connected to Tearaway.me. In some cases, the game may temporarily pause while waiting for a failed connection attempt before allowing gameplay to continue.
Tearaway Unfolded on PS4 will also lose functionality connected to the companion service. Players attempting to upload photos, access the Tearaway.me menu, or reload community images will receive communication error messages. Certain menu sections that previously displayed user-generated content will instead fall back on default images. Existing profile URLs associated with Tearaway.me will also stop functioning.
Media Molecule noted that references to the service will remain embedded throughout both games, including tutorials, menus, and collectible papercraft sections. The studio thanked players for their continued support and for sharing creations through the platform over the years.
