MindsEye, the highly anticipated narrative-driven action-adventure game from former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, has officially received an M17+ rating from the ESRB. The rating summary highlights the mature content the game will feature, including strong violence, blood, sexual themes, and explicit language.
The game places players in the role of Jacob Diaz, a former military operative who takes on a security job for a powerful tech corporation in the futuristic city of Redrock. Set in an open-world desert environment, MindsEye will feature intense third-person shooter combat, high-speed driving sequences, and cinematic storytelling. Players will battle various enemies, including rogue soldiers and malfunctioning robots, using a range of futuristic firearms such as blasters, pistols, shotguns, and machine guns.
According to the ESRB, the game’s battles will be frenetic, with realistic gunfire, large explosions, and cries of pain. Human enemies will emit blood splatters when shot, and players will have the ability to inflict post-mortem damage on bodies, leaving visible blood stains on the ground and corpses. Additionally, players can kill civilians, though doing so may impact their in-game progress.
Beyond its violent gameplay, MindsEye will also contain suggestive content. In one instance, sexual moaning sounds can be heard coming from inside a mobile home trailer. The game will also feature strong language, with the word “f**k” appearing in dialogue.
Developed by Build A Rocket Boy and published under IO Interactive Partners A/S, MindsEye is being helmed by Leslie Benzies, the former game director behind Grand Theft Auto V. The game is designed to deliver best-in-class cinematics and an immersive story-driven experience, reminiscent of the narrative depth and action-packed gameplay found in Rockstar’s iconic open-world titles.
MindsEye is set to release on June 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC.
