The canceled characters that were set to be added to Warnes Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 as part of Kombat Pack 3 have been revealed, based on a new rumor.
Known Mortal Kombat 1 insider _FateUnknown_, who had previously claimed that Kombat Pack 3 had been canceled, has revealed the names of the characters who were set to be added to the game’s roster via the DLC. The aforementioned character list was said to have been obtained from a datamine of the game’s files.
Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 Canceled Characters
The alleged list of canceled fighters that were previously set to be added to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster via the Kombat Pack 3 DLC can be seen below.
- Jade
- Cassie Cage
- Kung Jin
- Sonya
- Kano
It’s worth pointed out that, contrary to NetherRealm Studios’ claim regarding it selecting downloadable content, including characters, based solely on fan feedback, the datamined information was found in the game’s code 3 days prior to its launch over a year ago on September 14, 2023. This suggests that DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1 were planned well in advance and fan feedback had little to no influence.
The same insider had previously claimed that NetherRealm Studios was planning another story expansion along with Kombat Pack 3, but due to poor sales, these plans were shelved. “Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion were planned. All canceled recently. No more characters after Kombat Pack 2. A kameo or two might still be released since some work has been done on them, but I don’t know yet, ” said the leaker.
Khaos Reigns continues the story of Mortal Kombat 1, offering 4 to 5 hours of new content and introducing six new fighters: Ghost Face, Noob, Sektor, Cyrax, Conan, and the T-1000. This is in addition to Kombat Pack 1, which featured Omni-Man, Quan-Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda.
