The planned date for an upcoming Nintendo Direct may have been revealed via the console maker’s network maintenance schedule.
The Network Maintenance Information section of Nintendo’s official website has been updated with details regarding the schedule for an upcoming maintenance, potentially revealing the date of the final Switch-focused Nintendo Direct. The aforementioned maintenance is set to happen from Tuesday, February 4, 2025 8 :30 PM to Tuesday, February 4, 2025 10 :30 PM Pacific Time.

As Famiboards member King has pointed out, 3 of the last 5 Nintendo Direct presentations were either on the same date or the day after a scheduled network maintenance from Nintendo. A maintenance was held on September 12, 2022, which was followed by a Direct on September 13, 2022. Later, there was another scheduled maintenance on September 14, 2023, which was followed by a Nintendo Direct on the same day. More recently, a maintenance was held on June 18, 2024, which led to a Nintendo Direct happening on the same day.
The aforementioned details can be verified by looking up all mentions of “save data” in posts from Twitter/X account NinStatusBot. While there’s no guarantee, the above information does indicate that a Nintendo Direct may indeed happen on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard about a Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for February, 2025. During a recent episode of the XdC News podcast, co-host Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe (also known as Brazil on famiboards) talked about a major announcement planned for an upcoming Direct presentation next month. He mentioned that that the Nintendo Switch will get one final “big” game from Nintendo that is a “new version” of a beloved but “somewhat niche” franchise. Because of how it was mentioned during the podcast, there was some confusion as to whether the new game and the “big” game co-host Brazil had been referring to are the same or two individual titles. Brazil later took to famiboards to clarify that he was referring to a single new game during the podcast.
