Halo: Campaign Evolved PS5 Split-Screen Requires PS Plus for Both Players

Halo Studios has confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved will require PlayStation 5 players to have both PlayStation Plus and Microsoft accounts for split-screen play.

According to the game’s FAQ, players on all platforms will need a Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag to access the game, regardless of whether they are playing on Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam. The requirement is intended to support cross-platform play and cross-platform progression.

The PlayStation 5 version has additional requirements for local multiplayer. Halo Studios stated: “If you’re playing split-screen on PlayStation 5®, both accounts will need to have PlayStation Plus and be linked to a Microsoft account. Having these active PlayStation Plus subscriptions will also provide access to online co-op play.”

Xbox players will also need separate Microsoft accounts for split-screen. The FAQ notes: “If you’re playing split-screen on an XBOX console, the second player will also need a unique Microsoft account. If you want to play online co-op, you will need an active XBOX Game Pass subscription.”

On Steam, players must link a Microsoft account before playing.

Halo Studios also recommends creating an Xbox account before launch to speed up the setup process on release day.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game follows Master Chief and Cortana as they battle the Covenant on the mysterious ring world known as Halo. The title launches on July 28, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
