One of the prominent additions to PS Plus Extra in September, 2023 is 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, a 2019 adventure game developed by Vanillaware and published by Atlus. It first came out on the PlayStation 4 in Japan in November 2019 and had a worldwide release in September 2020. A Nintendo Switch version was also released in April 2022. The game combines side-scrolling adventure sections with real-time strategy battles. It tells the story of thirteen high-school students in a fictionalized 1980s Japan who get involved in a futuristic war between mechas and hostile Kaiju in a nonlinear narrative.
