Sony has yet to show the official UI for the PlayStation 5, but a leaked video has shown PS5 starting from a cold boot and it is impressively fast.

Sony’s next-generation console, PlayStation will launch on November 12 in most of the major markets around the world. Despite the launch of the console getting closer, there is no detailed breakdown of the UI for the PS5. That is, until today when a leaked video has shown us our first look at PS5 starting from a cold boot.

The source of this video is reddit but its origin appears to be in Russia based on the language shown in the UI. The reddit user who shared this video apparently had paid the leaker money in order to gain access to it. This video shows a back DualSense controller with the PS5 booting in the background.

As it is the case with such leaked videos, this one also needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It does resemble the short opening animation that Sony showcased for the PS5 during the Future of Gaming event. It is similar to the PS4 with its cold boot with a different opening animation.

Update: Here is a comparison between the PS5 and Xbox Series X cold boot time.

Keep in mind that while Sony has only shown a White DualSense controller, there are pictures of the black DualSense based on an FCC listing that detailed the various accessories for the PlayStation 5.

Microsoft has already shown its cold boot animation for the Xbox Series X, which is also impressive if we compare the time it takes to boot the console from a complete shutdown. This was a big problem especially on the Xbox Series X while Sony’s PS4 and PS4 Pro weren’t that terrible.
