Psychonauts 2 Gets Native Xbox Series X Rating But Not PS5

by Ali Haider

Psychonauts 2 might get a native Xbox Series version but not for the PS5. This is according to the Brazil Game Rating Board.

In a new update by the rating board, Psychonauts 2 has been given a rating for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC, including Linux and macOS. The PS5 doesn’t appear to be listed here which could suggest that there might not be a native version that supports Sony’s current-generation consoles and that it would run on backward compatibility.

The official Microsoft Store page has also listed the game with support for Xbox Series consoles. There has never been any official confirmation if the PS5 version will get a similar level of support but the recent rating update could suggest that it will be either the PS4 Pro version or the base PS4, depending on which platform Double Fine has decided to focus for their upcoming game. This is not an official confirmation by any means but since the rating is fairly recent, it is possible that this was planned for an announcement during the upcoming Microsoft E3 2021 showcase.

The game doesn’t appear to be that demanding so the backward compatibility mode might hit 4K on the PS5. We are not sure if this means the game supports 60 FPS with a higher resolution on the PS5.

Psychonauts 2 is slated to release in 2021 and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. The game recently received a new set of screenshots and was available for pre-order from the Microsoft Store.
