Silent Hill: Townfall has received an ESRB rating, suggesting that Konami may be preparing to share more information about the upcoming survival horror title in the near future.
The rating was issued for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC, with the game receiving an M for Mature 17+ classification due to Blood, Strong Language, and Violence.
According to the ESRB rating summary, Silent Hill: Townfall is a first-person survival horror game in which players attempt to escape a fictional island town in Scotland. Players will explore environments, solve puzzles, and defend themselves against hostile creatures using weapons such as pistols, shotguns, and axes.
The rating description notes that mutated enemies can suddenly attack players through jump scares, while combat features realistic gunfire and significant blood effects. The ESRB also references several violent scenes depicted in cutscenes, including “a close-up depiction of a character stabbing a body” and “a man being eaten by a monster.” The rating summary further confirms the use of strong language, noting that the word “f**k” is heard during the game.
ESRB ratings are often among the final regulatory steps before a game’s launch or a major marketing push, leading to speculation that Silent Hill: Townfall could soon receive a release date announcement.
Originally announced in 2022, Silent Hill: Townfall is being developed by No Code and published by Konami as part of the company’s broader revival of the Silent Hill franchise. The project remains one of the least publicly detailed entries in the series, with Konami having shared only limited information since its reveal.
