Starfield Is Not Coming To PS5 At All Contrary To The Recent Rumors

Microsoft and Bethesda Game Studios’ action role-playing game, Starfield, is not coming to PS5 contrary to recent rumors that claimed otherwise.

Recently, a Twitter/X insider by the name of Silknigth had claimed that Starfield would be announced for the PS5 this year, with its release set for sometime between November and December, 2024. They claimed that Microsoft’s plans for the year 2025 are even bigger, with well-established franchises in the Xbox universe set to receive multiplatform ports.

However, Windows Central’s Jez Corden has shot down the rumor, stating based on “great sourcing” that nobody at Bethesda Game Studios or otherwise is currently working on a PS5 port of Starfield. He added that nobody knows what the long-term future holds, but he doesn’t expect an port or an announcement in this regard any time soon.

This is in contrast to what the Twitter/X insider has claimed regarding a release in the November-December period. While they have been correct regarding the contents of PlayStation’s recent State of Play presentation, the existence of a Ghost of Tsushima PC port, and the four Xbox titles that were released on rival consoles, Corden’s sources are likely to be more accurate. If Starfield had indeed been planned for release on PS5 this November/December, a small team of developers would currently have been involved with the porting process. As per Corden’s sources, this is not the case.

Starfield is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was unveiled at Bethesda’s E3 presentation in 2018 and is set in a space-themed environment. It marks Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in 25 years. The game became available for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023. It presents an open-world setting situated within the Milky Way galaxy, featuring a blend of fictional and real planetary systems.
