The welcome tour for Valve Corporation’s upcoming console-sized PC, the Steam Machine , has apparently been added to Steam’s backend.
Extended Reality (XR) specialist Brad Lynch took to Twitter/X to share that the Steam Machine welcome tour was added to Steam’s backend a day ago. He added that when the Steam Controller received this treatment, it was only a few weeks before its pricing and launch date were announced by Valve Corporation.

After greeting users, the welcome screen displays a couple of useful tips, including one that mentions that the Steam Machine is equipped with a microSD card slot. The tip states that users have the option to expand their storage capacity by inserting and formatting a microSD card. Users are further instructed to push the card in to eject it from the PC.
The Steam Controller firmware update screen for the Steam Machine has also been added to Steam’s backend. It asks users to follow standard procedure by not unplugging the controller while its firmware is being updated.
Recently, Lynch mentioned being told Valve Corporation’s original price estimate for the Steam Machine, which was allegedly higher than the newly raised price of the Steam Deck. Based on this information, the company had initially planned to launch its console-sized PC starting at around 800 US Dollars or more. Using the Steam Deck’s price hike metrics, if Valve Corporation had originally planned to sell the 512GB Steam Machine model for 800 US Dollars or more, it would now be expected to priced at $1,040 or higher. Meanwhile, if the 2TB variant was initially priced at 1,000 US Dollars, it would now sell for 1,420 US Dollars.
Valve Corporation officially raised prices for Steam Deck OLED models worldwide on May 27, 2026, with the increases taking effect immediately across multiple regions including the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland.
