This collection includes two remastered games: Suikoden I HD Remaster: Gate Rune War and Suikoden II HD Remaster: Dunan Unification War. Both are role-playing adventure games where players take on the role of a hero fighting to defeat evil forces.
In these games, players switch between exploring diverse environments and leading a party in strategic, turn-based combat. Exploration is done from a top-down perspective as players move through castles, towns, forests, and caves, interacting with various characters and engaging in dialogue that drives the story forward. Combat, on the other hand, is viewed from the side, with players using melee and ranged weapons, as well as spells, to battle humanoid enemies, fantastical creatures, and other monsters. The action is highlighted by flashes of light, sound effects, and damage numbers that appear when characters are hit. Defeated enemies often disappear shortly after being struck.
The game includes several mature elements that align with its Advisory 16 rating. During combat, players may encounter female enemies with voluptuous designs, sometimes shown topless or in revealing outfits. However, these depictions avoid explicit details like nipples or genitalia. The game also features sexual references and suggestive dialogue, as well as some coarse language, including words like “damn,” “scum,” and “bastard.” Certain story moments, such as a character stabbing another as a sacrifice, cutting their hand for a ritual, or an implied suicide attempt, add to the mature tone. That said, the pixelated art style softens the impact of these scenes, giving them a more stylized and less graphic feel.
