Tekken 8 Update 2.00.03 Targets Critical Match Start Bug Between Eddy and Nina

by Ali Haider

Bandai Namco has announced that Tekken 8 will receive a new patch, version 2.00.03, on April 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. This update aims to correct a specific gameplay issue involving the characters Eddy Gordo and Nina Williams.

The announcement was made through the official Tekken social media account, where the development team confirmed that they had identified an unintended interaction between Eddy and Nina. During matches between the two characters, Eddy may move in front of his opponent immediately after the start of a match, leading to unintended positioning that could influence the outcome of competitive play.

The developers stated, “We have confirmed the following issue in TEKKEN 8: During matches between Eddy and Nina, Eddy may move in front of his opponent immediately after the start of the match. We are investigating the cause and will update you as soon as we have further information.” Bandai Namco has assured players that corrective actions are already underway, and a patch to address this issue will be deployed on Tuesday, April 22.

While this appears to be a focused emergency fix targeting the identified bug, it remains unclear whether additional adjustments will be included in this update. As of now, the developers have not published a full list of patch notes for version 2.00.03.

Known Fix in TEKKEN 8 Version 2.00.03:

  • Character-Specific Bug Fix
    • Resolved an issue in matches between Eddy and Nina where Eddy may move to the front of his opponent immediately after the match begins.
    • Further technical investigation is ongoing to prevent similar occurrences.

Bandai Namco has previously stated that further updates are in development and are expected to arrive in mid-May. These future patches will include changes aimed at reducing the damage from air combos and rebalancing the Heat Burst mechanic. The development team continues to monitor feedback from the player community, particularly concerns about dominant offensive play and high-risk, high-reward move patterns.

Tekken 8 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. More detailed patch notes for version 2.00.03 will likely be shared closer to the release date.
