The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition Rated for Nintendo Switch 2 by ESRB

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition has received an ESRB rating for Nintendo Switch 2, potentially signaling that Bethesda’s recently announced port is moving closer to release.

The rating board’s listing identifies the game for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The title has been assigned an M for Mature 17+ rating, with content descriptors including Blood and Gore, Sexual Themes, and Violence.

While an ESRB rating does not guarantee an imminent launch, such classifications typically occur during the later stages of a game’s path to market. The appearance of a Nintendo Switch 2 rating has therefore fueled speculation that Bethesda could be preparing to share a release date in the near future.

Co-developed by Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernizes the 2006 role-playing classic with upgraded visuals and gameplay improvements. The remaster includes the original game alongside its major expansions, Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles. The release has earned a mostly positive reception from players, though some criticism has focused on technical stuttering and the absence of official mod support.

The Deluxe Edition includes the full game and all standard downloadable content, including Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, and the well-known Horse Armor Pack. It also adds a digital artbook, a soundtrack application, and exclusive questlines that reward players with armor and weapon sets inspired by Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon.

Bethesda previously confirmed during a Nintendo Direct presentation that Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in both digital and physical code-in-box formats. The ESRB rating now adds another indication that the Nintendo version may not be far from launch, though Bethesda has yet to announce a specific release date.
