Blizzard Entertainment’s fantasy real-time strategy game, Warcraft 2 Remastered, has apparently been revealed via a new datamine.
Twitter/X user Stiven_SRB has shared what appears to be promotional material for an unannounced remastered version of Warcraft 2. They have obtained the aforementioned content though a recent datamine.
Warcraft 2 Remastered Logo Datamined
The alleged datamined logo and promotional material from Warcraft 2 Remastered can be seen below.
As with all rumors, we urge our readers to take this information with a grain of salt until there is official confirmation via official channels. The logo does look the part, however, and it’s possible that Microsoft and Blizzard Entertainment may be looking to announce Warcraft 2 Remastered for modern platforms in the near future.
The last remastered entry in the Warcraft series was released over two decades ago. Warcraft III: Reforged features updated graphics, new campaign settings, and modern online features through Battle.net. It received mixed reviews from critics but faced strong criticism from players due to changes from the original, missing promised features, and technical issues. Reforged preserves the core gameplay of the original while introducing further balance adjustments in multiplayer. Players with the original game can play with Reforged users via the updated client (available after purchase). A Classic Graphics setting is accessible without additional cost for those with a classic license, using original textures similar to StarCraft: Remastered. Players can also unlock profile icons based on per-race ratings.
The campaign visuals were updated to align somewhat with World of Warcraft, though the map of Azeroth and character designs remain closer to Warcraft III’s original style. Certain features are absent in Reforged, such as the competitive ladder, classic animated backgrounds, and the replay-saving option. While some of these may be added in future patches, others, like the “Clans” social feature, have not been addressed by Blizzard.
