World War Z developer Saber Interactive has released a new update today fixing the save data loss issue that was reported by many players on PC.
If you have downloaded and installed the latest Proving Grounds update, it is possible that your progress might be wiped out after the update. If you still haven’t received the new patch, a developer from Saber Interactive had shared the following fix on reddit.
Find this folder -> C:\Usersusername\AppData\Local\Saber\WWZ\client\storage -> and note the ID key of the folder here.
If you have the folder then take all the files from Saber\WWZ\client\storage and copy with the replacement to Saber\WWZ\client\storage\ in the folder that has the ID key.

However, you likely won’t need to attempt this method since a new hotfix was released today. It has patched World War Z to version 1.08 on consoles and PC. It brings the following bug fixes.
- Fixed issue that was causing save data loss on PC.
- Fixed weekly challenge rotation starting date (it will be set to Monday)
After downloading this update, if you were previously getting a message about progress loss on PC, it should be resolved now. In case it isn’t, you can still attempt the manual fix as revealed by the developer of World War Z.
The hotfix should be live on PC and consoles but if it isn’t right now, you can wait for it to go live first before attempting to play the game again.
