Mortal Kombat 11 Confirmed To Use Denuvo DRM On PC

by Ali Haider

Mortal Kombat 11 will be out on April 23. Today, the Steam Store Page was updated to add a warning reflecting the inclusion of third-party DRM like Denuvo.

Denuvo DRM has been included for a lot of high-profile game releases. It wasn’t included for Sekiro and the result was that a pirated copy of the game was out even before the game launched on Steam due to a region-based release schedule. Sometimes it can be removed from a game with updates like Hitman 2 and Resident Evil 7.

Denuvo DRM will be used to protect Mortal Kombat 11 from piracy on PC. It is notorious for some restrictions and reportedly comes at a cost of performance for PC games, but this hasn’t stopped the developers from using it.

Mortal Kombat 11 had a limited time closed beta recently, but it was only available for the PS4 and Xbox One. There was no such beta test done for the PC version, which explains why there is no chance of any exploit leaking for it ahead of the official launch of the game. The PC version is protected by the Denuvo DRM which can stop day one piracy, even if it has been proven multiple times that this doesn’t stop the game from selling well or even getting cracked later.
