Bioshock fans are in for a treat as the publisher 2K has announced that a new Bioshock is in development at their studio Cloud Chamber.
Bioshock 1 was developed by Irrational Games while the sequel to this critical and commercial hit was developed by 2K Marin. Irrational Games then returned to work back on the series with Bioshock Infinite although the studio was closed down after the sales of the game failed to meet expectations.

Infinite launched back in March 2013 and since then, there is another collection of games released with a remastered port of Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinite for the current generation consoles. There hasn’t been a new game in the series for a while now until today when 2K has announced that a new studio Cloud Chamber is working on the game.
“As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people and their collective, long-term potential,” said David Ismailer, President of 2K. “BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation*. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”

According to the official press release, the work on this new Bioshock has just started and it will be in “development for the next several years.” Don’t expect to see this new project come to fruition anytime soon and it is likely going to target the next generation of consoles instead of PS4 and Xbox One.
