CD Projekt Red had suffered a major security breach recently and they confirmed it officially on their social media account. The fallout from this hack is now showing up online including The Witcher 3 RTX version source code.

When the news was first revealed, CD Projekt Red shared the ransom note made by the hackers that asked for cash in order to stop them from leaking the source code of games that were developed by CD Projekt Red. The first of the source codes have been reportedly leaked to the dark webs and contains the entire Gwent.

Hackers are also threatening to leak the source code of other projects that were released by CD Projekt Red. This includes Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and apparently a new version of Witcher 3 that features RTX.

CD Projekt Red had promised a free next-generation upgrade for Witcher 3 that would add ray-tracing to the game. This is currently set to launch in 2021 but hasn’t received a release date. It appears that the hackers might have access to this new version of the game and it is possible that they could dump it online.

CD Projekt Red is also working on a next-generation update for Cyberpunk 2077 that they have scheduled to release in the second half of 2021. It is unclear what kind of effect this recent hack will have on their upcoming plans, but they haven’t lost data and managed to recover most of their important files, so the leaks are their only concern for now.
