Sony didn’t really launch many exclusives in 2019 but out of the major ones, Days Gone appears to have been a success for the company according to NPD.
PS4 didn’t really have a great year in 2019 with the two major exclusives being Days Gone and Death Stranding. It also didn’t get many third-party exclusives this year. Days Gone has done surprisingly well despite the average reviews it has received from critics. It might not be a critically acclaimed game for Sony but it is successful enough that Sony should be happy with giving Bend Studio another project or work on a potential sequel to Days Gone.
Days Gone continued to do well by charting in the Top 10 best selling games for the year. As time passed, it continued to slide down in ranking mostly due to other big hitters that took its place. At the end of the year, Days Gone has maintained its ranking in the Top 20 best selling video games making it the only PS4 exclusive to debut on the chart.
Nintendo had a rather successful year in 2019. Five of their games made it to the top 20 best selling list as shared by NPD. Microsoft failed to make a dent in the chart despite launching Gears 5.
