Brand new screenshots from Capcom’s upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster showcase a large zombie count, new weapons, as well as improved environments.

One of the new screenshots from Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster features a rocket launcher among the weapons that are available for protagonist Frank West to use. Additionally, it appears that the simultaneous zombie count has received a boost over the original. The environments have also received a major overhaul. These changes suggest that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is more of a remake.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster vs Original Comparison

A screenshot comparison between a location from the original Dead Rising and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster can be seen below.

Recently, we had shared a side-by-side screenshot comparison between scenes from the teaser trailer for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and the 2006 original’s opening section. It revealed that protagonist Frank West now sports a completely different look. His voice actor also appears to be different in the remastered version.

Based on the comparison, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster features completely reworked environments, improved texture work, improved lighting, improved shadows, and some additional post-process effects. It’s clear that there is a major graphical overhaul here over the 2006 original. That said, it doesn’t appear to be some sort of a re-imagining of the game. As such, fans of the original can expect much of the original experience to be preserved, though with some major audiovisual enhancements.

The original  Dead Rising was released on August 8, 2006, originally for the Xbox 360. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the game was re-released on September 13, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. Its story follows photojournalist Frank West, who becomes trapped in a zombie-infested shopping mall in Willamette, Colorado. Frank must solve the mystery behind the outbreak before a rescue helicopter arrives in three days.
