Kamiya said that he usually doesn’t reply games he works on after release, and Devil May Cry is no exception. However, once in a while, he catches gameplay clips and finds that it really does feel like 24-year-old game design. With today’s technology and game design approach, he would want to remake it from the ground up.

The Devil May Cry creator said that he doesn’t think seriously about a game project unless it’s actually happening, so, right now, he doesn’t have anything in mind for a remake. Though, if the time ever comes, he’s confident that he will come up with something. He called out Capcom, asking the company to leave the remake to him, and to also let him handle a Viewtiful Joe remake.

Given how the Platinum Games co-founder’s new independent studio, Clovers Inc , is currently working alongside Capcom on the sequel to Okami, it’s entirely possible that the company may end up collaborating with him on future projects. With Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno no longer being a part of Capcom, it’s likely that Capcom will turn towards Kamiya and his expertise in character action games for a new entry in the series. Only time will tell whether that’s the case, however.
