The UK sales performance of EA and Bioware’s action role-playing game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is similar to that of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth.
Christopher Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz, took to Twitter/X to share some details regarding UK boxed game sales charts for this week. He was asked about the sales performance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, to which he responded by saying that it did almost exactly the same as Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth performed in the country.
Dring further stated that it’s hard to know what EA’s expectations were, but according to him, the game’s sales performance seems fine. While not quite earth shattering, he said that the action role-playing game’s sales weren’t terrible.
In response to a question regarding the possibility of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s sales being notably below Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth in Europe, Dring believes that is the case. However, he further said that European data takes a bit longer to come fully through, and he’ll give it an extra week before knowing with certainty.
To put things into perspective, both Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Dragon’s Dogma 2 are multiplatform titles, while Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth was released exclusively for PS5. This makes the latter’s sales performance all the more impressive in comparison to the other two titles.
Previously, during an interview, John Epler, creative director on Dragon Age: The Veilguard at Bioware, confirmed that the studio has no plans to work on DLC for the game. Instead, the development team is now focused on Mass Effect 5 as its current project. This will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to fans, though, on the flip side, they’ll be glad to hear that the studio is fully involved in the development of the next Mass Effect.
