Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Update 1.020 Released, Likely Prepares for Daima DLC

Bandai Namco has released a new update for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, bringing the game to version 1.020 on consoles and PC. While the official patch notes have not been announced, this update is believed to be connected to the upcoming DLC titled “DAIMA: Adventure Through the Demon Realm – Part 1.” This expansion was revealed during New York Comic Con 2024 and is slated for release in 2025, although no additional details have been provided.

Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an action RPG that follows the story of Goku and the Z-Fighters throughout the events of Dragon Ball Z. It incorporates anime-original moments and adds extra lore to the existing narrative. The game originally launched in January 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, later becoming available on Nintendo Switch, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

As of July 2024, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has sold over 8 million copies worldwide, solidifying its success. The game’s longevity has been enhanced by multiple DLC expansions that introduce new transformations, story arcs, and gameplay mechanics.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has received two season passes, each featuring several expansions:

    • Introduced Super Saiyan God transformation and elements from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

  3. Trunks: The Warrior of Hope (June 10, 2021)
    • Adapted The History of Trunks storyline and expanded on Babidi and Dabura’s arc.

    • Covered Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku, with a side story about a young Vegeta.
  2. The 23rd World Tournament (August 17, 2023)
    • Focused on the Piccolo Jr. Saga, introducing a new Ground Battle mode.
  3. Goku’s Next Journey (February 21, 2024)
    • Adapted the battle between Goku and Uub, marking the transition into Dragon Ball GT.
