The development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is accelerating rapidly, and the game’s producer is teasing big news to come sometime this year in 2023.
In his new year’s greeting, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase has stated that the game’s development is accelerating rapidly, and that he has a major announcement lined up for 2023 that he can’t talk about as yet. He added that he wants to make it an exciting year for fans of the Final Fantasy series.
In his message, Kitase reminded fans that Square Enix’s latest entry in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy XVI, will finally be released this year. According to him, the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, is doing his best to ensure that development is coming along well. He asked fans to show their support for the team and the game when it releases later this year on June 22, 2023.
With regards to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Kitase teased a memorable scene from the original Final Fantasy VII, and how it may be re-envisioned. He asked fans to wait for further news and to let their imaginations run wild.
There’s one additional Final Fantasy related major news that Kitase teased, though he said that he can’t yet talk about it just yet. He hopes that 2023 will be a great year overall for fans of the series.
Previously, it was revealed that Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion’s Zack Fair may have an active role to play in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Speaking during an interview, Zack Fair voice actor Kenichi Suzumura, also known as Suzuken, revealed that the character will have an active role to play in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. He describes the Crisis Core protagonist’s role as a “mystery within a mystery”, adding that he hopes to be able to add some flair to the character while also enjoying the game as a fan and wondering where the story will head from here on out.
