Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Confirms Plans To Expand Remake Series Audience In 2025

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed Square Enix’s plans to expand the Remake series audience next year in 2025.

4Gamer recently published its annual end-of-the-year feature, where it interviews well-known people from the game industry for their end-of-the-year comments on the game that impressed or surprised them the most, their most memorable game content, the individual who’s work they enjoyed, and their aspirations for the coming year.

In his interview, Naoki Hamaguchi, game director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, shared his aspirations for 2025. He mentioned that the development team at Square Enix is currently working on the third and final installment, and that it is working hard to deliver a fitting finale.

Hamaguchi further stated that the development team will continue to challenge itself in order to make the Final Fantasy VII Remake series available to more fans next year, and he asked for their continued support. This suggests that the series may be set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch successor and possibly even the Xbox Series X|S. The Final Fantasy VII Remake series director also talked about the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, reminding fans that it will be released on January 23, 2025. He added that Square Enix will be holding a sale to commemorate the release of the PC version up until February 5, 2025. He hopes that those who have yet to try the game will take this opportunity to do so.

As for his favorite game of 2024, Hamaguchi mentioned Balatro as a highly addictive and easy-to-get-into card game that one tends to play repeatedly. Meanwhile, Elon Musk is the individual he paid attention to in 2024. He recalled seeing video footage of a SpaceX rocket returning to the launch pad, which made me feel the future and made him tremble. He hopes that private space travel will become a reality during his lifetime.
