Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy XVI, is heading to Xbox in addition to PC, based on the latest rumor.
Insider and content creator Nate the Hate took to gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era, where he is known as NateDrake, to share that an Xbox port of Final Fantasy XVI is set to happen. He said that all that’s left is for Square Enix is to make an official announcement.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of an Xbox port of Final Fantasy XVI. Earlier this year, during an episode of The Infinite Podcast, Shpeshal Nick was asked regarding the chances of Final Fantasy XVI receiving an Xbox port in 2024. In response, he mentioned that it was the mystery game he had brought up during an episode of the XboxEra Podcast. He had received a DM from one of his sources during the podcast regarding a certain game coming to Xbox that, if and when it is revealed, would, in co-host _Sikamikanico’s words, “set the internet on fire” and “cause drama.” Back then, Nick chose not to reveal the game’s identity. Regarding the individual who sent the DM, Nick said that it is the same person who correctly revealed to him that Visions of Mana would be making an appearance at the recent Xbox Developer Direct.
Meanwhile, Stewart Clarke, the voice actor for Dion in Final Fantasy XVI, took to Twitter/X to share that he’s excited for Gamescom 2024 for “absolutely no reason”, possibly hinting at the PC version getting a release date at the event. Nvidia recently released Game Ready and Studio Driver 560.81 for its GPUs, and among the notes is mention of a game ready profile for Final Fantasy XVI. While it wasn’t listed in the official driver release notes, a game ready driver profile for Final Fantasy XVI was discovered among the added profiles, further suggesting that the PC version is close to its release.
