Sucker Punch Productions has officially announced Ghost of Yōtei release date. This is a new standalone title launching exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. Although unrelated to the narrative of Ghost of Tsushima, the studio has positioned Ghost of Yōtei as a spiritual successor that builds upon the foundation of its critically acclaimed predecessor. The new title introduces Atsu, a survivor-turned-warrior on a path of revenge against the notorious Yōtei Six, who left her for dead in the wake of a violent massacre. Set in the rugged and visually rich land of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), the game features an open-world structure filled with narrative-driven quests, dynamic exploration, and refined combat mechanics.
Atsu’s journey is one of vengeance, but it promises emotional depth and growth as she encounters unexpected allies and uncovers more about herself and her homeland. The latest trailer, titled The Onryō’s List, reveals the six enemies Atsu seeks to eliminate: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. Players will have the agency to choose the order in which they pursue these targets. Beyond the central storyline, players can engage in bounty hunts, train under weapon masters, and explore the untamed wilderness of Ezo. The game introduces new mechanics including campfire resting, open-world freedom, and glimpses into Atsu’s past, offering a more personalized and flexible experience.
