GTA VI Not Facing Delays: Reports of 2026 Release Date Are Incorrect

Rumors about a possible delay for Rockstar Games’ upcoming GTA VI have sparked an online uproar and widespread backlash among fans.

Update: Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has offered an update on the GTA VI delay rumor that was spread by Twitter/X user billsyliamgta. He mentioned that six Rockstar Games employees told him they have not heard of any delay. That said, he cautioned that GTA VI is a big and ambitious game that could very well slip ahead of its planned release schedule. In any case, he said that there is too much time left to say anything definitive. He added that, for all he knows, Rockstar Games’ executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the employees. However, he said that the lack of internal announcement suggested that the rumor was not credible.

Original Story: Twitter/X user billsyliamgta has claimed that GTA VI has been met with an internal delay, and that Rockstar Games has already decided on an Early to Mid 2026 release window. This, in turn, sparked an online uproar and widespread backlash among fans.

Furthermore, as per the Twitter/X user, the PC version of GTA VI is planned for release around 12 to 18 months after the console launch. He claimed that these details are based on information gathered from multiple developers across two studios. He also claimed that Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier would comment on a potential delay for GTA VI the next day. Schreier denied the claim, stating that he never said anything about commenting on this the next day or at all. He further clarified that this should not be interpreted as him saying there’s no delay.

Previously, an eagle-eyed fan had shared that a necklace that has recently been added to GTA Online with the Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC is the same as the one worn by an NPC in the GTA VI reveal trailer. Read about it here.
