A new Halo roadmap leak shared by YouTuber Rebs Gaming claims Halo Studios has cancelled multiple projects and currently has no campaign or multiplayer title in active development.
According to the video, the studio’s original roadmap planned to release three Halo games across three years, beginning with the previously reported Halo: Combat Evolved remake. The report claims that two additional projects, known internally as Project Ekur and a separate campaign title, were intended to launch within that window before both were cancelled.
Rebs Gaming also claims Project Ekur underwent several major changes during development. According to the report, the project evolved from its original concept into a large-scale Warzone-style experience before eventually returning to a battle royale format shortly before development was cancelled.
The report further alleges that Halo Studios is now working on concepts for its next game, with development teams attempting to establish a new direction before full production can begin.
According to the leak, there is also uncertainty within the studio over whether remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 will move forward. Rebs Gaming additionally claims that no one at Halo Studios has heard of the previously rumoured Halo MMO.
Looking ahead to Halo Fest, the YouTuber says Project Ekur had originally been considered for either a soft launch or a public reveal during the event. With the project’s cancellation, the report suggests Halo Fest is now unlikely to feature a new game announcement, although the studio could potentially confirm that a new Halo project has entered development.
The report also claims Halo Studios is considering downloadable content for the reported Halo: Combat Evolved remake.
None of the claims have been confirmed by Halo Studios or Xbox. As a result, the information should be treated as rumour until an official announcement is made.
