People from the gaming press are teasing some major surprises that are set to happen at the upcoming The Game Awards 2024.
Game journalists are expecting a very big The Game Awards next week on December 12, 2024. VGC’s Andy Robinson told his social media followers to “fire up the hype train”, while The Verge’s Tom Warren responded in agreement.
A Twitter/X user responded to Robinson, asking whether his statement is a guess or a hint. In his response, Robinson said with certainty that it is not a guess.
Both Robinson and Warren are likely hinting at some major game reveals that are set to happen at The Game Awards 2024. The event’s producer and host Geoff Keighley is known for his connections within the game industry, and it’s highly likely that he has secured some major world premieres for this year’s show. It helps that PlayStation didn’t have a major showcase towards the end of the year, suggesting that Sony Interactive Entertainment may have its planned reveals lined up or The Game Awards 2024. Only time will tell whether this is the case, however.
One unannounced title that has been brought up often is Naughty Dog’s next game. During a recent online panel, the studio’s president and game director, Neil Druckmann, had revealed that its next game has been in development since 2020. He further mentioned that while Sony Interactive Entertainment doesn’t let him control how he’s going to announce it, the company has given him full control over the game itself.
Furthermore, during a recent episode of the MinnMax Show on YouTube, host Ben Hanson had mentioned hearing that it will feature a lot of “player freedom”. He had heard from somebody in the know who worked on the game that people are not ready for how “amazing” it is going to be. Earlier, during an interview with YouTuber Logically Speaking, Druckmann, had shared that game is really ambitious. He added that parts of it are really hard to work on.
