Universal Pictures has dropped the first trailer and story details for Jurassic World Rebirth, the next explosive chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise. Set to release summer 2025, the film marks a bold new direction for the series, blending high-octane action with a fresh ecological twist. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and penned by original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp, the movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey in a globetrotting dinosaur thriller.
Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, Earth’s ecosystems have largely rejected dinosaurs, confining them to isolated equatorial zones. The story follows Zora Bennett (Johansson), a covert ops specialist tasked with retrieving genetic material from three colossal dinosaurs—terrestrial, aquatic, and aerial—whose DNA holds the key to a groundbreaking life-saving drug. But when her mission collides with a stranded civilian family (led by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Reuben Delgado), the group becomes trapped on a forbidden island that once housed a secret Jurassic Park research facility. Johansson headlines alongside two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid, her loyal right-hand operative, and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis. Rupert Friend (Homeland) plays Martin Krebs, a morally ambiguous pharmaceutical executive, while Garcia-Rulfo’s family adds emotional stakes to the survival chaos.
