Monster Hunter Wilds has been officially rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), offering fans a glimpse into what to expect from the upcoming title. Developed and published by Capcom, the game is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
According to the ESRB rating, Monster Hunter Wilds will feature “Blood, Crude Humor, [and] Violence,” with additional notes on user interaction and in-game purchases. Players will assume the role of a monster hunter tasked with saving the people and ecosystem of a forbidden land. The game will be played from a third-person perspective, allowing players to explore a vast fantasy world, complete quests, interact with characters, and battle a variety of fantastical creatures, including dragons, dinosaurs, and giant insects.
Combat in Monster Hunter Wilds will be fast-paced and melee-focused, with players wielding weapons such as swords, hammers, axes, and bows. Battles will be accompanied by impact sounds, explosions, and blood-splatter effects, adding to the intensity of the gameplay. The ESRB also highlighted some humorous elements, including a cutscene where a large monster uses a flatulence attack, creating a brown cloud that knocks back characters. Additionally, some monsters will be depicted urinating and defecating in the environment, adding a touch of crude humor to the game.
As the successor to Monster Hunter: World (2018), Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to build on the success of its predecessor, offering an even more immersive and expansive experience. The ESRB rating comes ahead of an upcoming gameplay reveal, which is likely to provide fans with a deeper look at the game’s mechanics, world, and creatures.
Monster Hunter Wilds is slated to launch on February 28, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
