Ninja Theory Says New Senua Game Will Be Significantly Longer Than Previous Hellblade Titles

Ninja Theory has offered new details on the scope of its upcoming Senua title, revealing that the game is being designed to be noticeably longer than both previous Hellblade releases.

Responding to fan questions on X, the studio explained that development is still ongoing and that a final playtime estimate has not yet been determined. However, the team confirmed that the project aims to deliver a much larger experience than its predecessors.

“Senua is still in development so we don’t have an exact figure, but we’re designing it to be quite a bit longer than previous Hellblade games. We’re creating a more expansive, fully realised action-adventure journey, while still keeping the experience focused, carefully crafted, and deliberately paced around Senua’s story.”

The comments align with what Ninja Theory previously revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, where the studio officially announced Senua as a standalone sequel that moves beyond the traditional Hellblade branding. The project represents a significant evolution for the franchise, shifting toward a larger-scale action-adventure format while maintaining its narrative focus on Senua’s personal journey.

Set for release in 2027, Senua follows the Celtic warrior as she navigates a fractured vision of purgatory inspired by her childhood homeland in an effort to reunite with lost loved ones. The game is currently in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
