The Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch successor, dubbed Switch 2, will come with a “surprise feature”, and the console is expected to be announced in January, 2025, based on a new rumor.
Reddit user NextHandheld, who’s information has been vetted by a NintendoSwitch2 subreddit moderator, has claimed that they got their hands on the final retail build of the Nintendo Switch 2 as well as its dock. They added that they’ll post proof during Christmas, and that they expect the console to be announced in January, 2025. As per them, the Switch successor’s logo is essentially comprised of a large “2” next to the original logo.
Joy-Cons Features
The Reddit user claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons will include a “surprise feature” as well as the ability to be detached from the console via a rear button. He also said that the controllers will feature hall effect analog sticks. Recently, a user on Bilibili had shared alleged pictures of the new Joy-Cons. The images showed a view of the IR cameras, larger SL and SR buttons, and an extra button on the back that looks like a pedal.
Screen Size
According to the insider, the Nintendo Switch 2 features a display that is of the same screen size as that of the Steam Deck. Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase had previously reported that the console will feature an 8-inch display. Furthermore, Taiwain’s Economic Daily had shared that the handheld handheld display will have a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Special Game Bundle
The Reddit user also mentioned that Nintendo is planning to launch a special game bundle for the Nintendo Switch 2 that includes a game with a “9” in its name. The first title that comes to mind is a potential Mario Kart 9. Given the massive success of Mario Kart 8, launching the Switch successor alongside its sequel would certainly be a smart move.
The insider didn’t want to give any further information, as they believe doing so would reveal their identity.
