Nioh 2 has been updated to a new version today just ahead of the launch of the Complete Edition on PS5. You can find the patch notes here.
The game was updated mainly to make some adjustments related to the gameplay balance. This included making it easier to deal with energy damage or adjusting the frequency of some special attacks.
Keep in mind that the original patch notes were shared in Japanese and can be accessed from here, but we have used a translator to make them readable in English.

Adjustments
The following adjustments have been made to the bosses of the sixth and later levels of the “Deeper Depths of Hell
- Adjusted to make it easier to deal energy damage.
- Adjusted upward the physical strength.
- Increased the amount of time that the automatic recovery of health granted by “Nioh’s Difficulty” will pause when damage is dealt.
- Adjusted upward the frequency of the “Standing Crow’s Hat” attack on higher difficulty levels.
If you have the original game on PS4, you are eligible for a free upgrade to the PS5 version. This doesn’t apply to the first entry in the series. Save data transfer is possible between both games though if you want to update to the Complete Edition on the PS5.
