PS4 continues to be the most active platform for Rockstar Games’ GTA Online, according to the latest information.
Gamesindustry.biz’s Christopher Dring has reported that, according to market analysts Ampere, there are over 20 million active users in GTA Online, out of which the most active platform for the game “by some distance” is PS4.
Dring also shared Newzoo’s latest playtime chart, which revealed that the most played PlayStation games over the past two months are Fortnite, Call of Duty, EA Sports FC 24, GTA V, Roblox, Minecraft, Rocket League, XDefiant, Rainbow Six: Siege, and NBA 2K24. Among these, Ubisoft’s XDefiant, released in May, is the only game not available on PS4. The data indicates that nearly all the top PlayStation games currently run well on PS4, reducing the immediate need for consumers to upgrade their hardware, especially during economic instability and high living costs.
The stats shared by Dring for GTA Online come as a little surprising, given how the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game are actively receiving features that are not present in the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions. This includes the introduction of animals across the world map, a few exclusive vehicle upgrades, a new Vehicle Organization section in the Interaction Men, and new Awards as well as Career Progress Challenges.
