Has Red Dead Redemption Remastered just been rated in Germany, giving another hint of its existence? No, and here’s why.
The source of the leak is a screenshot allegedly taken from the German rating board USK by Twitter user a1DaSauce_. As it turns out, the screenshot, which can be seen below, had been fabricated by them all along. A quick inspection of the USK’s official website reveals that no such remaster has been classified by the board.
In addition, a comparison between the rating depicted in the image and the ones seen for ratings classification of other titles on the website reveals a difference in spacing of text, further proving that the screenshot is fake. This doesn’t mean, however, that a Red Dead Redemption remaster does not exist. It may well happen, but this particular evidence has been fabricated to mislead fans.
Previously, it was reported that, in a new listing filed on June 15, 2023, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea had potentially rated a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption. The latest rating has been assigned the classification number “CC-NV-230615-001”. In the Korean game rating system, “NV” denotes console games, while “NP” is used for PC games. However, it’s important to note that this does not mean that a PC version does not exist.
Prior to the new rating, ratings for the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, the Undead Nightmare Collection, and GOTY Edition of Red Dead Redemption had already been classified by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea.
Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. Serving as the sequel to Red Dead Revolver from 2004, it stands as the second installment in the Red Dead series. Set against the backdrop of the fading American frontier in 1911, the game revolves around the story of John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son have been captured by the government as leverage to force his compliance as a gunslinger for hire. Driven by necessity, Marston embarks on a quest to bring three members of his former gang to justice.
