Resident Evil 3 Has Sold 3 Million Copies, Monster Hunter World at 16.4 Million

Capcom has shared an update on the life-to-date sales of their games including Resident Evil 3. The game has now sold 3 million copies worldwide.

Resident Evil 3 has turned out to be a slow burner in terms of sales. While it continues to sell despite launching months ago, it has a long way to go before it can hit the numbers of Resident Evil 2, or even Resident Evil 7.

In their financial presentation for the latest quarter results, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 3 has shipped 3 million copies, up from the previously reported 2.7 million copies of as June 30, 2020.

They have also cited the success of catalog games like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7 for their profit in the last quarter. They didn’t share an update on the sales number for these games. The last update puts the sales of Resident Evil 7 at 7.9 million units while Resident Evil 2 has achieved 7.2 million units.

Another update that was released today was for Monster Hunter World. According to Capcom, the game has now sold 16.4 million copies. This is up from the 16.1 million that was last reported in June. This doesn’ count the sales for Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion which also comes with the base game.

Overall, Capcom reported a positive quarter with solid revenue and profit. They attributed this success to the sales of their games including the Resident Evil and Monster Hunter series.

Capcom is currently working on Resident Evil 8, which is officially referred to as Resident Evil Village. It is scheduled to launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
