Tekken 8 has recorded its highest Steam player count in more than a year following the release of Kunimitsu, a new balance patch, and the recent reveal of Baki’s Yujiro Hanma as a future DLC fighter.
According to Steam data, Tekken 8 reached a 24-hour peak of 12,342 concurrent players, while the current player count climbed above 12,100. The game also briefly surpassed 10,000 daily players for the first time since Armor King joined the roster more than six months ago. These are the strongest numbers the fighting game has seen since the launch period of Season 2 over a year ago.
The resurgence comes shortly after Bandai Namco released Kunimitsu alongside a balance update that targeted the game’s Heat system. Season 3 has largely focused on refining gameplay following community feedback, with the developer aiming to bring the combat experience closer to traditional Tekken fundamentals after earlier updates drew criticism from parts of the competitive scene.
Interest in the game also appears to have been boosted by the recent announcement of Yujiro Hanma from the Baki series. Revealed during Combo Breaker 2026, the crossover fighter is set to join Tekken 8 as its fourth DLC character this winter. Following the reveal, Tekken 8 climbed above major releases such as Pragmata and Battlefield 6 on Steam’s global sales chart, highlighting strong player interest in the upcoming content.
Yujiro Hanma is one of the most recognizable characters from the Baki franchise, known for his overwhelming strength, mastery of martial arts, and signature Demon Back transformation. He joins a growing Season 3 roster expansion that already includes returning characters such as Kunimitsu, with Bob and Roger Jr. also planned as part of the roadmap.
Bandai Namco has not announced a release date for Yujiro’s arrival. The company has, however, clarified that the upcoming SUBSEA LOCKDOWN stage featured alongside the reveal is an original Tekken arena and is not based on any locations or settings from the Baki series.
While Tekken 8 remains well below its all-time Steam peak of 49,977 concurrent players recorded shortly after launch, the latest surge marks a significant turnaround for the game and suggests that recent gameplay changes and character announcements have succeeded in bringing players back to the King of Iron Fist Tournament.
