The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Official Announcement Set for Tomorrow, File Size Revealed

by Salal Awan

Bethesda Softworks appears to be on the verge of officially revealing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, following years of speculation and persistent rumors. The announcement, teased through the company’s official social media channels, is scheduled for April 22 at 11:00 AM EST, with live streams set up on both YouTube and Twitch. The YouTube stream is currently titled “all will be revealed,” and the thumbnail artwork closely resembles the concept art previously leaked online, believed to be tied to the Oblivion Remaster project.

This announcement comes after mounting evidence has continued to surface over the past year, linking the project to Virtuos, a studio known for its involvement in high-profile remaster and support work. Previously leaked content on the studio’s website included updated environment art, logos, and interface visuals, all indicating a substantial visual overhaul of the 2006 classic.

One of the more surprising new developments is the rumored file size of the upcoming remaster. The game reportedly requires 120 GB of storage space, a stark increase from the original version’s 4.6 GB. This significant jump is likely attributed to the enhanced assets and visual fidelity, which, according to ongoing speculation, are powered by Unreal Engine 5. While the engine has not been officially confirmed, its use would explain the considerable file size increase.

In addition to these technical improvements, new information was shared in a recent Defining Duke podcast. According to co-host Lord Cognito, the remastered edition will include all downloadable content from the original release. This encompasses major expansions such as Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, as well as minor DLC like Horse Armor, Wizard’s Tower, The Thieves Den, and others. Given that the original game was launched in 2006, bundling the full suite of content with the remaster would not be unexpected and would likely be welcomed by longtime fans.

Insider Nate the Hate also recently claimed that Bethesda is targeting both announcement and release for April 2025, but hinted at the possibility of a shadow drop if plans shift. With April nearing its end, the window for such a surprise reveal aligns with Bethesda’s latest teaser.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, all signs strongly suggest that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is real and its announcement is imminent. Whether it will launch this year or next remains unclear, but with the promised reveal set for tomorrow, fans will not have to wait long to find out what lies ahead.
