The Hundred Line Dev Has No Plans To Explore Additional Revenue Via PS5/Xbox Ports, Despite Being On The Brink Of Failure

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy developer TooKyo Games has no plans to explore additional revenue via PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports, despite being on the brink of failure.

Kazutaka Kodaka, the director of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy and the CEO of TooKyo Games, took to Blue Sky to respond to an individual who wondered, in the event that the game turns out profitable, how long it would take the studio to port it to other platforms, such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and also how long foreign-language users would have to wait for translation and localization. In his response, he stated that if he can pay off his debt early and secure enough operating funds for the company, he would  love to get started right away. However, as of now, he shared that TooKyo Games is still on the brink of failure.

Kodaka further clarified that he expressed his enthusiasm for multilingual support and not for porting The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy to other platforms. Regarding the possibility of ports, he said that he has made it clear many times before that the studio has no such plans, and that the chances are very slim.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy director’s firm refusal to port the game to a successful platform like PlayStation comes as odd, especially given that the additional sales revenue from other platforms would undoubtedly help with TooKyo Games’ financial situation. It’s possible that the studio doesn’t have the financial resources to port it to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and the CEO doesn’t expect Sony Interactive Entertainment or Microsoft to offer any kind of assistance on that front. Hence, his statement about the chances of other console ports being very slim.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is available for PC and Nintendo Switch. For more on the game, check out our review here.
