The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered Is The 2nd Best Selling Game Of 2024 In UK, Behind Helldivers 2

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is the second best selling game of 2024 in the UK, behind Helldivers 2.

Christopher Dring, head of GameIndustry.biz, took to Twitter/X to share his insight on the recent about UK game revenue being down 30% for the first half of the year 2024. According to him, it doesn’t quite tell the full story. He mentioned that, in terms of the number of games sold, the actual drop is just over 3%. He explained that this is because of lower-priced games, such as Helldivers 2, doing good business.

Dring pointed out that Helldivers 2’s budget was nowhere near that of some AAA games, and that there were fewer than 100 people working on it for the bulk of development. Ultimately, he said that it comes down to a game’s budget. He revealed that the biggest selling new releases of the first half of 2023 were Hogwarts Legacy followed by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Meanwhile, the best selling games released during the first half of 2024 are Helldivers 2 followed by Last of Us 2 Remastered.

Going by Dring’s statement, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has proven to be a commercial success, despite only being available on a single platform i.e. PS5. Though, prior rumors suggest that it is also making its way to PC. A new platform similar to SteamDB for Epic Games, called EpicDB, had recently been launched, and revealed a lot of information that wasn’t intended for public viewing. By searching for a publisher and viewing its page, it was possible to find several codenames for PC games that have yet to be announced. One of the codenames listed among Sony Interactive Entertainment’s titles was Utah. Going into the Cloud Saves section in its profile revealed mention of a PC version of The Last of Us Part 2.
