The Witcher is getting a Netflix adaption later this year and the producer recently shared an update on the status of project confirming the end of the production.
The Witcher series has been adapted into video games by CD Projekt Red. It has turned out to be their most successful game release with The Witcher 3 selling more than 10 million copies across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It also won the most amount of game of the year awards surpassing the previous record set by Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us.
Netflix is actively seeking for new content to bring to their streaming platform and they picked up The Witcher as one of the shows that they can launch exclusively on their streaming service. Henry Cavil (Man of Steel, Justice League) is taking the lead role playing as Geralt of Rivia.
The Witcher Netflix TV Show is targetting a release in Q4, 2019 and since the production has now wrapped up, we can expect to hear about a release date or see the first trailer from this upcoming TV Show soon. Do keep in mind that this is based on the books of the same name by polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher video game has its own storyline even if it uses the same characters and universe.
