Nintendo Reportedly Releasing An Upgraded Nintendo Switch In Mid 2020

Nintendo Switch is one of the most successful hardware released by Nintendo. They are apparently releasing another brand new model for it in 2020.

In 2019, Nintendo released two new versions of the Nintendo Switch. The first one was a hybrid model that is the same as the original Nintendo Switch but with an upgraded system-on-chip (SoC) and better battery life. The second one is the Nintendo Switch Lite that ditches the hybrid nature of the console and goes all-in with the portability.

Both of these Switch models were different from each other not just in features but also in price. Apparently these are not the only new additions by Nintendo as they are planning to launch another new version of their hybrid console this year.

Nintendo Switch Upgraded Model

According to a report by DigiTimes, which is further corroborated by Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, the company will release a new Nintendo Switch that comes with upgraded CPU. The makeup of the console itself will change as well and instead of plastic, it will offer magnesium alloy body. Since this is a rumor, for now, don’t take this as an official confirmation.

Rumors about Nintendo releasing multiple models for their hybrid console are nothing new, however, it was widely believed that the upgraded battery life and portable version were the only two models that will launch in 2019. If this new rumor turns out to be true, it will make it clear that Nintendo is aggressively trying to follow the same approach as they did with Nintendo 3DS that received multiple variants of the same console.
