Annapurna Interactive is planning to bring their interactive adventure What Remains of Edith Finch to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
While there is no official announcement for this release, we have managed to dig out a listing for these games on the Taiwan Game Rating website. This listing is for a native PS5 and Xbox Series X release of the game.
What Remains of Edith Finch was a critically acclaimed story-focused adventure game that showed the fate of the finch family and narrated the tale of each of the family members through a series of interactive stories. It was a critically acclaimed game at launch that was released as a console exclusive to the PS4 but later ported to the Xbox One.
While the game launched a while ago, there was no native 4K support for it and the frame rate was limited to just 30 FPS on consoles. On the PS4, it ran at a 1080p resolution with a 30 FPS performance that was prone to issues like stuttering. The story was similar on the Xbox One with a dynamic 1080p resolution and aggressive pop-in that could distract from the experience.
If we have to go by these ratings, Annapurna Interactive might be gearing up to launch the game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X with a native upgrade. It could be a free upgrade, or a paid one. Since there is no official announcement for it, we don’t know what will be the case.
It appears that those who play the game on consoles can finally enjoy a higher frame rate and 4K resolution if this rating is anything to go by, and we have to wait for Annapurna Interactive to make an official announcement which will hopefully clear the details about this upgrade.
