A media event for Kojima Productions’ upcoming action-adventure game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, was recently held in Japan, and the preview embargo is expected to be lifted on May 8, 2025.
Twitter/X user Genki_JPN, who is known for sharing video game news and insights from Japan, has shared that Kojima Productions recently held a media preview event for the upcoming sequel to Death Stranding in Japan. They also mentioned that the preview embargo for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is expected to be lifted on May 8, 2025. An picture from the event can be seen below.

Both the press and content creators appear to have been given access to a section of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at the event. The previews will be based on their hands-on impressions from the game. Those who have been looking for a more in-depth look at the game won’t have to wait much longer.
During a recent episode of the Koji Pro radio broadcast, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima had shared that it includes a new special feature that will allow players who are inexperienced with action games to clear boss fights. He elaborated that the game will offer an extra option on the game over screen, likely in Easy mode, below the “continue” option. This new option will let players clear the failed boss fight by showing images and text descriptions of the battle akin to a visual novel. This will allow them to retain the narrative context of these battles without having to engage bosses in combat. It’s likely that the press will have more to report on this feature in their upcoming previews.
During the same radio broadcast, the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director had shared that the game is now 95 percent complete.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PS5.
