Microsoft and Playground Games’ upcoming Fable reboot has received an adults-only classification from South Korea’s Game Content Rating Committee ahead of its planned release later this year.
According to the official classification decision dated May 22, 2026, Fable has been rated “Not available to minors,” equivalent to an 18+ rating, due to the game’s mature themes and content.
The board described Fable as “an immersive open-world action RPG depicting the player’s adventure to resolve the situation where villagers are turned to stone by an unidentified stranger.”
The rating summary specifically cites “use of language that directly expresses sexual acts,” “frequent killing, bloodshed, and bodily mutilation using weapons,” “direct criminal acts based on user choices,” and “excessive use of vulgar language and profanity” as reasons behind the classification.
The listing additionally includes content descriptors for sexuality, violence, fear, drug use, crime, gambling, and language.
The South Korean classification follows a recent Australian rating for the game, where Fable also received an M classification for “Violence” and “Mature Themes.”
Earlier this month, Playground Games publicly reiterated that Fable remains scheduled for release later in 2026 through a recruitment post shared on LinkedIn.
“After the incredible launch of Forza Horizon 6 this week, the excitement across the studio is sky-high!” the studio wrote. “But we’re not done yet. With Fable coming later this year, we’re continuing to recruit across multiple disciplines to bring more exceptional talent into the team.”
Developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, Fable is scheduled to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The reboot marks the first time a mainline entry in the franchise will debut simultaneously on a PlayStation platform.
